A unit planner that shows its numbers

Drawglass started as one hunter's spreadsheet for picking a Montana district without paying for a subscription. It pulls every harvest report and regulation the state agencies already publish, computes success rates the same way for every unit, and puts them on a map you can filter. That is the whole idea.

Why it is free

The data is public. Montana FWP and Idaho IDFG publish it every year. Charging for a nicer view of it never sat right. The site runs on light display advertising, which covers hosting and not much else.

What it is not

• Not a guide or outfitting service. It will not tell you where the elk are on opening morning.
• Not affiliated with Montana FWP, Idaho IDFG, or any state agency. Always confirm season dates and license rules in the current regulations before you buy or apply.
• Not a draw-odds service. It shows what happened to hunters who were already in the field, not your chance of getting a tag.

How the numbers are built

Every rate is harvest divided by hunters afield, straight from the state report for that year, at the scope shown in the column header. When a state does not publish a figure, the cell says so. The Data page lists every source with a link.
